The Wonderful Orlando Eye

Florida is a beautiful state. Between pristine beaches, coastal architecture, and the unique local wildlife, there’s sure to be something to catch your eye in Orlando. The Orlando Eye offers a wonderful opportunity for locals and tourists alike to view these sights from a height of 400 feet in a comfortable capsule.

First opened in 2015, the Orlando Eye is one of the world’s biggest Ferris wheels. It features a unique design that utilizes gears and motors to stabilize hanging capsules as it rotates. While the capsules still move around a bit, any motion is quickly dampened. This creates a stable viewing environment for guests to enjoy.

The Orlando Eye was recently rebranded as the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye. As part of this rebranding, several special red capsules were added to the Ferris wheel. These capsules contain both selfie sticks and a special stash of Coca-Cola for the occupants to drink. If you want your Orlando Eye experience to be even more special, consider asking ride attendants if you can use one of these red capsules. It’s a great move if you’re thirsty!

Located in the heart of Orlando, the Orlando Eye is right next to Madame Tussauds Orlando and the SEA LIFE aquarium. Visitors can purchase passes that allow them to visit all three attractions at a steep discount. One of the most fun parts about the Orlando Eye is seeing things you recognize. If you’re visiting Orlando from afar, be sure to visit the aquarium first so that you can see how different it looks from the air afterward.

The operators of the Eye are very safety conscious. Be sure to check local weather before planning your trip. The Eye will most likely be shut down should there be any rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds in the Orlando area. Luckily, Florida has pretty mild weather for most of the year!

For out-of-state visitors, the best time to ride the eye is just before sunset. You’ll get a wonderful view of Orlando as the city lights up during the transition from daytime to nighttime. You’ll also get to experience one of the most beautiful sunsets in the country from an incredible vantage point. If you’re a local, however, it’s probably better to ride the eye during the day. While looking at Orlando’s buildings and roads might not be the most exciting thing for visitors, it’s very fun to view the city you live in from a different perspective.

If you want a truly unique experience, try visiting the Orlando Eye during a rocket launch. The Eye has clear views to Cape Canaveral, so you can catch sight of rockets as they begin their ascent to space.
